Our founder, Dr H.B. North, was a chemist with a life-long minerology passion, which led him to the development of minerals with practical implications and uses. NorthMoly's parent company - North Metal & Chemical Company - was founded in 1921, in York Pennsylvania, for the manufacture of Tungstate and Molybdenum compounds, at a time when no Molybdenum was being mined in the United States.
In the early days, great effort was put into importing this rare mineral in order to manufacture and distribute it on a small scale. Since the 1980's, NorthMoly has grown into the largest manufacturer of Molybdenum in the United States.
NorthMoly is committed to stocking molybdenum products for regular users of every product. Even in times of plenty, we allocate material usage to ensure stock is available for every regular customer. We aim to be the most dependable source of molybdenum products to all our customers.
NorthMoly's parent company, North Metal & Chemical, have been serving customers since 1921
When Nixon Administration created the federal Environmental Protection Agency in 1973, heightened environmental concerns provided North opportunities to pivot toward agricultural applications for sodium molybdate. Small fertilizer producers became North's primary customer base. As universities started getting grants to study the benefits of micronutrients in farming applications,
Moly as a micronutrient began to boom in the 1980s.
Today, there is an ever-growing concern of macronutrient overuse, polluting streams and striping soil. The use of micronutrients -- like sodium molybdate - continue to grow.
NorthMoly manufactures a complete line of sodium molybdate products for agricultural use in the heart of York, PA.
